Carpet Stain Removal Top Tips

Carpet Stain Removal Top Tips

These three easy methods will remove twenty of the most common carpet stains. It will depend on your carpet fibre and the duration of the stain, but if these methods don’t work, we can clean it professionally for you.

Method 1 will remove: Alcohol, Coffee, Tea, Liquid foods, and Urine

Method: Blot up surplus spillage first, then use a Detergent Vinegar Solution, a little at a time. Always work from the outer edge of the stain inwards and frequently blot with dry cloths. See below for final rinse procedure

Method 2 will remove: Chocolate, Sticky Sweets, Blood, Glue, Egg, Ice Cream, Milk, Soft Drinks, and Vomit

Method: Scrape up excess with a blunt knife first, then use a Detergent Solution starting at the outer edge and blot dry. Follow up with Ammonia Solution and blot dry again. See below for final rinse procedure

Method 3 This will remove: Solids, Fats, Tar, Chewing Gum, Oil and Ointment, and Shoe Polish

Method: First, scrape up excess with a blunt knife, then use a Dry Cleaning Solution followed by Detergent Vinegar Solution and blot dry. See below for final rinse procedure

Final Rinse Procedure (applicable to all three stain removal methods)

Method: Mix one-part white vinegar and four-part water, pour mixture into a spray bottle and spray over the stained area. Blot dampened area (do not rub) to remove excess moisture and then spread white kitchen towel (stacked 6-8 sheets deep) or absorbent cloth over the affected area and place a weight, such as a telephone directory, on top. Leave overnight and repeat if necessary

We can’t guarantee the total success of these methods without knowing your carpet fibre composition, its age, and the size and age of the stain. But we can help to prevent an expensive mistake by using the wrong cleaning method  on the wrong stain.
